The World’s Billionaires of 2009

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Forbes has once again announced its annual list of the worlds billionaires for 2009.

The main overall change to the list is the drop in overall Net Worth of the majority of billionaires due to the current economic conditions and as a result there are less billionaires in 2009 than there were 2008.

Another interesting change is that Bill Gates (co-founder of Microsoft) is once again the worlds richest person with a net worth of $40 Billion. Warren Buffet (Berkshire Hathaway CEO) has been pushed down to second place with his net worth currently $37 Billion.

One of the 44 billionaires who were able to increase their net worth was Oprah Winfrey who is now worth $ 2.7 billion and ranked 234 on list. A interesting name appearing on the 2009 list is the Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera who has a net worth of $1 billion.
